How to Use the Next Night Shift Calculator
Rotating shifts repeat in a fixed cycle, so if you know one reference date and what shift you worked that day, you can project forward to find exactly which future dates are night shifts and which are days off. Pick a preset close to your team's rotation, or select Custom and type your employer's actual sequence into the pattern field, separated by commas.
Once you enter the reference date and the shift you worked on it, the calculator lines the rotation up against today's date and tells you, in days, how far away your next occurrence of any shift code is — night shift, day off, or any other code in your pattern. This works for common healthcare, manufacturing, and emergency-services rotations like 3-team/2-shift, 4-team/2-shift, and 4-team/3-shift schedules — just swap in your own pattern.
The two shift codes you're searching for (by default, Night and Off) are fully selectable, so you can just as easily look up your next Day shift or any custom code in your rotation. Knowing your next day off ahead of time makes it much easier to plan appointments or trips around your schedule.
