🔄Shift Work Schedule Calculator

Calculate upcoming shift schedule by rotation pattern and start date

How to Use the Shift Work Schedule Calculator

Shift workers cycle through rotating day, night, and off days on a repeating pattern. This calculator generates a day-by-day schedule for 2 to 8 weeks based on your rotation type and first shift date. Each day is color-coded by shift type — Day (blue), Night (orange), Off (gray) — making it easy to plan appointments and personal commitments.

How to Use

Select your rotation pattern from the dropdown. Common patterns include the 3-day Day-Night-Off cycle and the 6-day 2/2/2 cycle. Enter the date of your next Day shift as the start date, choose how many weeks to display, and click "Generate Schedule." The calendar updates with your complete rotation.

Planning Tips for Shift Workers

Schedule doctor appointments and personal errands on your Off days during business hours. Avoid important commitments the day after a Night shift — your body needs recovery time. Share the schedule with family or housemates at least 2–4 weeks in advance. Remember that holidays may alter your actual schedule — always check your employer's policy.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does it show public holidays?

No, this tool calculates based on the rotation pattern only. Public holidays depend on your employer's policy and are not automatically applied.

How do I align the start date with my actual schedule?

Enter the date of your next Day shift. If you're mid-cycle, move the start date backward by the number of days already completed in the current cycle.
