What This Backstory Generator Does
Naming a character for a story or a game night takes a minute; the history behind them stays blank for weeks. Pick a genre, set how many characters you need, press the button, and this tool draws a backstory in five lines: origin, turning point, current goal, hidden secret and core flaw. Three genres are included โ fantasy, science fiction and modern drama โ with five options behind every line.
Generating Several At Once
You can generate up to three characters in one run. Each line has its own list, every list is shuffled separately, and the results are dealt out one row at a time, so three characters from the same genre never share an origin or a goal. Enter a name and a single character carries it as is while several get a number after it; leave it blank and they are labelled Character 1 and up.
Ways To Use It
Rather than keeping all five lines, hold on to the one that catches you and redraw the rest โ the character comes out sharper that way. Reading the hidden secret and the core flaw back to back usually shows you exactly where the conflict lives. Every line is written for fun and refers to no real person or existing work. Nothing you type is saved, so copy what you want to keep.

Redrawing a single line is not supported. Pressing the button again redraws all five, so write down any line you want to keep.
