How to use the form completion rate calculator
Form completion rate means two different numbers depending on the denominator. The primary metric here is submissions รท form starts: of the people who typed into the first field, what share sent the form. Add form views and you also get submissions รท form views โ the view-based completion rate โ along with the form start rate, which is the share of displayed forms that anyone actually began. A high completion rate paired with a low start rate points at the copy and button above the form rather than at the fields themselves.
Enter how many users cleared step 1 and step 2 and a segment table appears showing where each drop-off happens. Phone verification and address fields tend to concentrate abandonment, so segment numbers find the bottleneck that a single overall rate hides. Leave the step fields empty and the table stays hidden.
There is no built-in "healthy above X%" line, because form length, required fields and traffic source move the number too much. Comparing the same form before and after a redesign is far more reliable.
Frequently asked questions
Fire one event when the form becomes visible and a different one on first focus or first keystroke in the opening field. If both fire under the same event name, the two cannot be separated later.
Count only forms that ultimately succeeded as submissions. The calculator takes no separate field for failed attempts, so track those on their own if you need them.
