How to Use the Frame Advantage Calculator
In fighting games, frame advantage tells you who can act first after a move. A positive value means the attacker can move first (advantage); a negative value means the opponent can move first (disadvantage).
Formulas Used
- Total Move Frames: Startup + Active + Recovery
- On Block Advantage: Guard Stun − Recovery
- On Hit Advantage: Hit Stun − Recovery (optional)
For example, with 18F recovery and 20F guard stun, block advantage is +2F — the attacker can act 2 frames sooner. Use this to plan combo extensions or pressure sequences after blocked moves.
Frequently Asked Questions
The attacker can act 2 frames before the opponent. Positive is attacker advantage, negative is attacker disadvantage, 0 means both act simultaneously.
Check the game's official frame data guide, community wikis, or use training mode frame meters. Values are move-specific.
Both players can act at the same time. The outcome depends on move startup speed and game system priority.
