Get the week count and the sets for each session together
Enter your current single-set maximum for the hand-release push-up, the maximum you are aiming at and how many reps you expect to add per week. The tool returns the reps to gain, the weeks needed, and for every week a target maximum alongside the set work for that week. Reps per set are taken as a share of that week maximum, session volume multiplies that by your set count, and weekly volume multiplies again by sessions per week.
The default share is 55 percent of your maximum, adjustable between 30 and 80. Working too close to a single-set maximum makes the later sets collapse, while working far below it leaves too little stimulus, so people usually pick somewhere in between. No governing body publishes a required share, which is why the figure is an input rather than a fixed value. Reps per set are rounded down and the week count is rounded up.
The week count is not a prediction. It extends the weekly gain you typed in a straight line, and real progress is not linear. The hand-release push-up is a US Army Fitness Test (AFT) event, but no point table or pass mark is stored here, because published per-event tables disagree between sources. Set your own target from the official scoring tables.
Frequently asked questions
No. Working near a single-set maximum makes later sets collapse and working far below it leaves too little stimulus, so people pick in between. The figure is adjustable from 30 to 80 percent.
It has to reach the target, so falling short would be wrong. Reps per set are rounded down instead, because a set has to be completable.
It is reps per set multiplied by sets per session and then by sessions per week. Lowering either of those two inputs lowers it directly.
