A social work field practicum is rarely one number. Programs count total field hours, a minimum number of days on site, and separate field seminar hours, and students often split their placement across more than one agency. This checker takes your placement log and your own program figures and compares all three at once.

For each placement the countable hours are the smaller of the hours you logged and days on site × the daily cap, and the difference is reported separately as hours dropped by the cap. Leave the cap blank and your hours are added as entered. Countable hours, total days and seminar hours are then each compared with the figure you typed. A value exactly equal to the requirement counts as met, and the shortfall shows as 0 hours.

Required hours and days differ by program, accrediting standard and year, so no default is built in. Copy the numbers from your field education handbook. The tool does not decide whether a license or credential will be granted, does not check whether a site is approved, and does not look at coursework requirements. It only reports how your log compares with the figures you entered.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I enter hours from more than one placement site?

Put one placement per line as "site name, hours, days". The tool adds up countable hours and days across every line.

Do I have to fill in the daily cap?

No. Leave it blank and the hours you entered are added as they are. Use it only when your program caps hours per day.

Why do I have to type the required hours myself?

Requirements change and differ by program and pathway, so no default is supplied. The tool only compares against the figures you enter.
