How to Use the Round Bar & Pipe Weight Calculator
Select round bar or pipe, then enter the dimensions in millimeters. For a round bar, enter the diameter and length. For a pipe, enter the outer diameter, wall thickness, and length — the inner diameter is calculated automatically. Weight uses the formula: π × cross-section area (mm²) × length × density ÷ 1,000,000. Useful in engineering design, structural fabrication, and purchasing to estimate rod or pipe weight before ordering.
Frequently Asked Questions
Weight (kg) = π × (diameter/2)² × length (mm) × density (g/cm³) ÷ 1,000,000.
Inner diameter (ID) = OD − 2 × wall thickness. Weight (kg) = π × ((OD/2)² − (ID/2)²) × length × density ÷ 1,000,000.
OD is the outside diameter; ID is the inside opening diameter. Wall thickness = (OD − ID) / 2.
