How to use the custom period progress calculator
Set the start and end of a span down to the time of day, add a reference moment, and the page returns the whole length, the time elapsed, the time remaining and the progress as a percentage. The span does not have to be the current year: a project, a contract term, a school term or a single shift all work, and the progress per day shows how large one day is against the whole. When the reference moment sits outside the span, the page says so rather than hiding it.
How the numbers are produced
All three moments are converted to minutes from coordinated universal time components, so the figures are identical in any time zone. Progress is the elapsed minutes divided by the total and is shown to one decimal; when rounding would print 100.0% while minutes still remain, the page shows 99.9% instead. Figures are as of October 2026.
Limits and what is not covered
Showing only the progress of the current calendar year is not covered. The page counts calendar time in full rather than separating working days from holidays, and it does not judge goal attainment or whether a schedule has slipped. The result is a share of time across the span you entered, not a performance measure.
Frequently asked questions
No. When rounding to one decimal would produce 100.0%, the page shows 99.9% instead, so 100.0% appears only when the remaining time is exactly zero minutes. The figure and the conclusion are kept pointing the same way.
The progress is clamped between 0% and 100% and the location line says whether the reference comes before the start or after the end. The calculation is not stopped, so you can size up a span that has not begun yet.
No. Because both ends are free, the same method covers a project, a contract term, a school term or a single shift, whether the span runs for minutes or for years.
