A weekly timesheet that totals all seven lines at once

Punches are recorded one day at a time, but what payroll and the weekly report need is the total. Doing each day separately means repeating the minute carry and the break deduction seven times, which is where the numbers drift. Paste a list with the day, start, end and break minutes on each line and you get the worked time per day, the weekly total, the daily average, and the longest and shortest day together.

Night shifts and break deductions

Start and end are converted to minutes past midnight and subtracted, then the break is taken off. A line whose finish is earlier than its start can either be read as a next-day finish, adding 24 hours, or flagged as a typo, whichever you select; the results and the table mark which lines crossed midnight. Totaling a single day on its own is not what this tool does, and it does not produce pay rates, premium amounts or any statutory-limit verdict.

As of October 2026 no external table or official recommended value is used. The weekly baseline is a figure you type in yourself, and leaving it blank is reported as such. The average divides only by the days with at least one worked minute, so rest days do not drag it down. Up to 14 lines are accepted at once.

Frequently asked questions

How do I enter a night shift that ends the next day?

Write the finish time as it is, such as 06:00. With the next-day setting selected, 24 hours are added and the number of lines handled that way is reported in the results.

Can the break field be left out?

Yes. A line with no fourth field is read as a zero-minute break. If a break is longer than the shift itself the worked time would go negative, so the line number is reported and the calculation stops.

What should go in the weekly baseline?

Whatever figure you want to compare against. The tool does not supply a statutory limit or a recommended value, and leaving the field empty simply shows that no baseline was entered.
