How to use the Christmas Prep Start Date Calculator
Enter the Christmas date and today's date, then list each prep task with the number of days it takes, one task per line. The tool works backwards to the latest date each task can begin, shows which task has to start first, and counts how many start dates have already slipped past the reference date.
Each start date is the Christmas date minus the days you entered, and weekdays are built from Coordinated Universal Time components so the answer never slides by a day for a different time zone. Day counts must be whole numbers from 1 to 365, and any line whose number cannot be read is named by its line number. Current as of October 2026.
A plain countdown that only shows the days left until Christmas is not covered here; this page exists to work the start dates backwards. How long a task really takes depends on the person and the situation, so no standard day counts are offered and the figures come from you. Gift budgets, cost splitting and shipping cutoff lookups are not included.

The until-start column states how many days have passed, and a line above the table counts those tasks against the total number of tasks.
The days left are shown as well, but the point of this page is working out start dates. If you only need one date, enter a single prep line.
