A chore draw that does not ask you to type the list
Forty five chores come built in across five areas: kitchen, bathroom, living room and bedroom, laundry, and tidying and errands. Switch on the areas you care about, say how many to draw, and the pool is shuffled with the reverse Fisher-Yates method and drawn without repeats, alongside the pool size and the chance any one chore comes up, which is the draw count divided by the pool. Add a roster and the names are shuffled and handed the drawn chores in turn, so who does what is settled in the same step.
Assumptions and what is not covered
Every chore in the pool is assumed equally likely with no weighting. Typing your own duty list is not covered, and neither are repeating weekday rotas or any rating of how long or how hard a chore is. No published standard was found for chore duration or difficulty, so no time estimate or difficulty score is given. The browser Math.random function is not a cryptographically secure random source, so do not use it for draws that carry legal weight or money. Up to 100 names are handled. Written as of October 2026.
Frequently asked questions
No. Forty five chores are already built in across five areas: kitchen, bathroom, living room and bedroom, laundry, and tidying and errands. Toggling an area changes the pool, along with the pool size and the chance any one chore is drawn.
Fill in the roster and the names are shuffled, then handed the drawn chores in turn. Leave it empty and the page only draws chores, marking the owner column as unassigned.
No published standard was found for how long a household chore takes, so no time estimate is offered. This page stops at choosing what to do.
