How to use the dog training step progress calculator
No recognized chart grades training difficulty by species or breed, so this calculator does not create difficulty grades. Instead you enter how many steps you or your trainer split one behavior into, and how many of those steps your pet has already passed.
Progress is steps passed divided by total steps. Logged practice time is days practiced multiplied by sessions per day and minutes per session. Average days per step is days practiced divided by steps passed, and the days left simply extends that average over the remaining steps and rounds up.
The days left figure is not a prediction. It is your own practice record extended at the same pace, so it can drift far from reality when later steps take longer. The tool does not judge difficulty or breed aptitude, and it does not define what counts as passing a step. Figures reflect October 2026.

Frequently Asked Questions
No. No recognized chart grading training difficulty by breed or species could be verified, so this tool does not create grades.
It is not a prediction. It extends your logged practice at the same pace, so it can differ widely once later steps take longer than earlier ones.
The tool does not decide that for you. Agree on the steps and the passing criteria with your trainer, then enter those numbers.
