How to use the dog nose work session frequency calculator
No widely accepted chart says how often a dog or cat should do scent games, so this calculator never suggests a session count. You enter the daily goal you set with your veterinarian or trainer, and it compares that with the sessions you actually logged.
The period target is the daily goal multiplied by the days in your observation window, and goal progress is sessions done divided by that target. The daily average is sessions done divided by days, and sessions short is the target minus what you did, shown as 0 once the target is met. The formula used is printed with the result.
This tool counts sessions only. It does not track minutes per session or total indoor play time, and it does not judge which difficulty of scent game suits your pet. Figures reflect October 2026, and the goal itself should be set with a veterinarian who knows your pet.
This tool is for reference only and does not replace veterinary care. Contact your veterinarian right away if you notice symptoms or suspect a problem.
Frequently Asked Questions
No recognized frequency chart by energy level or species could be verified, so this tool does not suggest a count. Enter the goal you agreed on with your veterinarian.
No. This calculator counts sessions only. Use a play time calculator if you want to track the minutes you spend.
The tool does not judge that. Repeating scent games too often can tire a pet quickly, so revisit the target with your veterinarian.
