The exact dates the window opens and closes
Pick the species, enter the date of birth, and the page turns the critical period into real calendar dates, then says whether today falls inside it, with the days left or the days since it closed. Age in weeks is shown to one decimal.
The ranges are the figures in wide use in AAHA and AAFP life stage guidance, converted to days. Puppies are tested against days 21 to 98, that is three to fourteen weeks, and kittens against days 14 to 49, two to seven weeks, with both boundary days counted as inside. Sources that add a second window for puppies at 14 to 16 weeks appear on a separate note line. Current as of October 2026.
What to expose them to, and how far, is not calculated here. Before vaccinations finish, how far you can go depends on local infection risk and belongs with your veterinarian. This tool is for reference only and does not replace veterinary care. Contact your veterinarian right away if you notice symptoms or suspect a problem.

How far you can go depends on vaccination status and local infection risk. Ask your veterinarian before widening the exposure.
