Your own step goal measured against your tracker record

Enter your daily step goal, the number of days recorded and the total steps over that period. The tool returns the average steps per day, the share of the goal reached, the daily difference and the running difference across the whole record. Add the days left in your goal period and it also shows, rounded up, how many steps a day are needed to meet the running goal; leave it blank and that line says it was skipped. The average is rounded to one decimal before any comparison, so the number on screen and the verdict never point in opposite directions.

No validated table sets a daily step target by breed, so this tool proposes no goal and uses the figure you or your veterinarian chose. How much activity to aim for depends on age, weight, joint condition and any heart or airway disease, so decide it together with your veterinarian. Reviewed as of October 2026.

It does not compute walking time or calories burned. Use an exercise calculator for a time-based target. This tool is for reference only and does not replace veterinary care. Contact your veterinarian right away if you notice symptoms or suspect a problem.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does it give a step target for my breed?

No. There is no validated table of daily step targets by breed, so this tool proposes no goal and takes the figure you or your veterinarian chose.

Can the share read 100% while the running difference is not zero?

It is built so that cannot happen. The daily average is rounded to one decimal first, and both the difference and the share are computed from that rounded value, so the numbers and the verdict agree.

How do I handle a day with no walk?

Count that day as 0 steps and still include it in the days recorded. Dropping the day makes the daily average look higher than it was.
