How to use the pet bowl height calculator

Measure from the floor to the withers, then pick a percentage preset or type in the one from the guide you are reading. Add the height of the bowl itself and the tool reports how tall the stand has to be to reach that rim height. A taller bowl simply means a shorter stand.

No official bowl height conversion chart exists. As of October 2026 there is no agreed percentage of shoulder height, and there is no settled evidence that a raised bowl benefits every pet. The tool therefore takes the percentage from you, works only inside that figure, and prints the formula alongside the result.

Bowl diameter, material and non-slip bases are out of scope. This tool is for reference only and does not replace veterinary care. Contact your veterinarian right away if you notice symptoms or suspect a problem, such as coughing, bringing food back up or trouble swallowing at mealtimes.

Frequently asked questions

Is there an official bowl height chart?

No. That is why you enter the percentage yourself; if you are following a guide, put its percentage in and the result stays inside that figure.

Does raising the bowl help digestion?

There is no settled evidence that raising a bowl helps every pet. Whether to raise it, especially with throat or oesophagus disease, is a question for your veterinarian.

Why subtract the height of the bowl itself?

Stand height plus bowl height is what actually sets the rim height. A tall bowl needs a lower stand.
