How to Use the Cat Activity Time Observation Log Calculator
No recognized chart grades activity level by cat breed. Age, home layout and other animals in the house shift activity so much that breed alone predicts little. This tool therefore drops breed lists and converts the play sessions you counted into active time. Enter the days observed, the number of sessions and the average minutes per session.
Total active time is sessions multiplied by average minutes, and the daily average divides that by the days observed. The response rate is the sessions with an immediate response divided by the total sessions. No recognized figure exists for how many minutes a day is enough, so no target is shown. Splitting hunting play into several short bouts is encouraged in the AAFP guidance on feline environmental needs. Figures current as of October 2026.
The tool assigns no activity grade and sets no target amount. It converts the log you entered. This tool is for reference only and does not replace veterinary care. Contact your veterinarian right away if you notice symptoms or suspect a problem.

Pain or illness can be behind it. Bring the log to your veterinarian and have your cat examined.
