How to use the dating service refund calculator
The United States has no single national refund table for matchmaking or dating services. What you get back depends on your written contract and, in a number of states, on a dating service statute that overrides unfair contract terms. Enter your fee, the contract term, how much of it has run, the introductions promised and received, and how long ago you signed.
Legal basis: California Civil Code section 1694 and following and New York General Business Law section 394-c are the best known dating service statutes. They typically give three business days to cancel, require the contract to state that right in writing, cap the contract term, and require a refund proportionate to the unused portion once the window closes. Illinois and several other states have similar acts. Where no such statute applies, the contract governs and state unfair and deceptive practices law is the fallback. Because statutes differ, treat the cancellation window here as editable and confirm your own state's figure. Keep written proof of when you sent notice, since both the window and the proration turn on that date rather than on when the company replies.
