How to Use the Acoustic Panel Quantity Calculator
Acoustic and sound-absorbing panels are almost always sold in fixed square or rectangular sizes, so knowing your wall and ceiling area alone doesn't tell you exactly how many to order. This calculator adds your wall and ceiling area together and divides the total by the area of one panel to give you the number of panels to buy.
The area of one panel is found by multiplying its width and height in inches, then converting to square feet by dividing by 144. For example, a common 24x24 in panel covers 4 sq ft, so dividing your total area by 4 and rounding up gives the required count. Be sure to exclude openings like doors and windows where panels won't be mounted.
Your waste factor should cover cutting loss and breakage. Wall dimensions rarely divide evenly into panel sizes, so scraps at corners and edges are common, and acoustic installs often can't be easily redone once mounted — so it pays to order a bit extra rather than run short mid-job.
