How to use the TOEIC Speaking and Writing levels converter
Employers and programs often ask for the proficiency level printed next to a TOEIC Speaking or Writing score rather than the score itself. Pick the section, enter your score, then paste the level ranges one per line as "level, lowest score". The converter shows which range your score falls in and how far it is from the ranges above and below.
A score at or above the lowest score of a range falls in that range. Each highest value is shown as one point below the next range up, and the top range runs to the 200 pts maximum. Points to the next level and to your target level are rounded up, so adding the figure shown really does move you into that range.
No level ranges are stored here, because they can change; the sample lines in the input box only show the format. The converter does not translate a Speaking score into a Writing score, and it does not convert either into another test's scale.
Frequently Asked Questions
The proficiency level ranges are published but they can be revised. Numbers hard-coded into this page would start giving wrong levels after a revision, so the tool reads the ranges from your own score report.
That range. With a range starting at 160 pts, a score of 160 pts sits in it, while 159 pts drops to the range below.
The target range lowest score minus your score, rounded up. If you are already at or above that lowest score the figure is 0 pts.
