Early childhood credential rules are rarely a single credit total. Most require a minimum number of courses in each content area as well, so it is possible to clear the overall credit count and still fall short because one area is missing a course. This checker lines up the per-area course minimums and the credit total side by side.

Enter one content area per line. For each area the tool reports courses done minus courses required as the gap, and credits from every area are summed and compared with your total requirement. Leave the total course count blank and the per-area minimums are added up instead. A count exactly equal to the minimum is treated as met, and the gap shows as 0 courses.

Required credits and course counts differ by state, pathway and year, so nothing is prefilled. Copy the figures from the requirement sheet you are working from. The tool does not judge whether a particular course is an approved one, and it does not decide whether the credential will be issued. It only reports how your record compares with the figures you entered.

Frequently Asked Questions

How should I write the area names?

Copy the area names from your own requirement sheet. Names with spaces are fine because columns are split on the commas, not on spaces.

What happens if I leave the total course count blank?

The per-area minimums are added up and used as the total. Enter a figure only when your sheet sets an overall course count of its own.

Does this tell me whether the credential will be issued?

No. It only compares the figures you enter with what you have completed. Confirm the detailed rules with the agency that issues the credential.
