How to Use the TV Mount Height Calculator
Mount a TV too high and you'll strain your neck; mount it too low and the viewing angle feels awkward. The most comfortable setup places the screen's center at eye level when you're seated on the couch. Enter your TV size and seated eye height, and this calculator gives you the recommended mounting height — measured from the floor — for both the screen center and the bottom of the TV.
Screen height is calculated from the diagonal size assuming a standard 16:9 aspect ratio. Subtracting half of that screen height from your eye height gives the recommended height for the bottom of the TV (or mounting bracket). For example, with a 55 in TV and a 42 in eye height, the screen center should sit around 42 in, with the bottom mounted somewhat lower. When installing, also factor in viewing distance and wall stud locations.

Most consumer TVs use a 16:9 aspect ratio, which is the default used here. For other aspect ratios, the actual screen height will differ slightly, so treat the result as a general guide.
