How to Use the Toner Life Predictor
Enter the toner's rated page yield, the number of pages already printed, and your average monthly print volume. The calculator instantly shows remaining pages, estimated days left, and the approximate replacement date.
Finding the Page Yield
The page yield is printed on the toner cartridge box or listed on the manufacturer's website under specifications. It is based on 5% coverage per page (a typical text document). For heavy-coverage printing such as photos or color graphics, your actual yield will be lower.
Checking Pages Printed
Print a status or configuration page from your printer's menu — it shows the total page counter. If you know the remaining toner percentage, calculate pages used as: total capacity × (1 − remaining%). After replacing a cartridge and resetting the counter, track pages since the replacement.
When to Reorder
Order replacement toner when you reach about 20–30% remaining to avoid running out unexpectedly. Use this calculator to plan ahead so deliveries arrive 2–3 weeks before the estimated replacement date.
Frequently Asked Questions
Yes. Drum units last much longer (10,000–30,000 pages), but you can enter drum capacity and pages used into the same fields. The calculation works identically to predict drum replacement timing.
Printer manufacturers often trigger the warning conservatively at 10–20% remaining to drive early replacement. Use this calculator based on the actual page count for a more accurate prediction.
