How to Use the Scaffolding Calculator
Tube-and-coupler scaffolding is the most versatile system for irregular building shapes and retrofit projects. Estimating material quantities before ordering prevents both shortages that delay work and excess rentals that inflate cost.
This calculator uses a 1.5 m (5 ft) horizontal bay spacing and a 1.8 m (6 ft) lift height as baseline values. Multiply quantities by the appropriate ratio if your project uses different bay sizes. Add 10–15% for irregular corners, access gates, and tie-back assemblies.
Standard Dimensions Used
- Bay width (standard spacing): 1.5 m
- Lift height: 1.8 m
- Plank spacing: 1.8 m
- Clamps per connection: 2
Frequently Asked Questions
Add all exterior wall lengths together. For a rectangular building: perimeter = 2 × (length + width). For L-shaped or irregular footprints, measure each wall segment individually.
No — base plates, top guardrails, mid-rails, toe boards, and ties are not included in this estimate. Add approximately 10–15% for ancillary safety components.
