How to Use the Floor Water Pressure Calculator

In multi-story buildings, water pressure at the faucet often gets weaker the higher up you go. This happens because of the height difference between the water source (a rooftop tank or booster pump) and the fixture. Enter your base pressure and the height of each floor, and this calculator estimates the water pressure you can expect on any target floor.

As a rule of thumb, water pressure drops by about 0.433 psi for every foot of elevation (roughly 1 psi per 2.31 ft). For example, with a base pressure of 60 psi and 10 ft per floor, pressure falls by a little over 4 psi for each floor you climb. This is a theoretical estimate that does not account for pipe friction or aging plumbing, so actual pressure may differ. If pressure stays consistently low, ask your building management for an actual gauge reading.
