Pick an animal and a year range, and the tool lists every year of that animal inside the range, then reports the next such year after your reference year along with the years until it arrives. It is handy for finding dates for a same-animal gathering, or for working backwards to the birth year of an older relative. Enter your own birth year and it also shows the offset between your animal and the chosen one inside the 12-year cycle.
The assignment uses the plain 12-year cycle: the animal follows from the remainder when the year is divided by 12, with the Rat year taken as the start of the cycle and Ox, Tiger and Rabbit following. Written as of October 2026, and every year value comes from your own input.
Years here are counted by the solar (Gregorian) calendar year, not from Ipchun (Lichun, around Feb 4) or the Lunar New Year, so people born in January to early February may belong to the previous year's animal under those traditional boundaries. No lunar new year boundary adjustment is applied. Lunar new year dates move every year, so no fixed value can be stored, and the animal for people born in January or early February depends on which boundary is used. Finding one animal from a single birth date is not covered, and neither are star signs, birthstones, or fortune readings.
Frequently Asked Questions
The twelve signs run in a 12-year cycle, so the animal follows from the remainder when the year is divided by 12. The order starts at the Rat year and runs Ox, Tiger, Rabbit and on, and the same animal returns every 12 years.
When the cycle is cut at the lunar new year instead, people born in January or early February fall under the previous animal. Lunar new year dates move every year, so no lunar boundary adjustment is applied here and the count uses the solar calendar year only.
Finding one animal from a single birth date is not covered here. This tool works the other way round: pick an animal and it lists the years of that animal inside your search range.
