How to Use the Monthly Working Days Calculator
Whether you're prorating a monthly salary or planning a shift schedule, it's often useful to know exactly how many days you'll actually be at work this month. This calculator takes a year and month, figures out the total number of days automatically, subtracts weekend days based on your work schedule (5-day or 6-day week), and then subtracts any holidays you enter to show the real number of working days.
For example, August 2026 has 31 total days. On a 5-day schedule, Saturdays and Sundays account for 10 days off. If one weekday holiday falls in the month, total days off becomes 11, leaving 20 actual working days. Be sure to only count holidays that fall on weekdays — if a holiday already lands on a weekend, don't count it twice.
This figure is handy for prorating pay, calculating remote-work day allowances, or planning project timelines. Company-specific closures or founding-anniversary days off aren't included automatically, so add them to the holiday count if needed.
Frequently Asked Questions
