How to Use the Credit Card Billing Cycle Calculator

Enter your statement closing day and payment due day to instantly see this month's billing timeline and which statement today's purchases will appear on. This helps you time large purchases to maximize your interest-free grace period — without missing a payment or carrying a balance.

In the US, the CARD Act requires that payment due dates be at least 21 days after the statement closing date. Many cards offer 25 days. If you make a purchase the day after your closing date, you effectively get a full 30-day billing cycle plus the 25-day grace period — up to 55 interest-free days. This only works if you pay the full balance by the due date each month.

Your closing date and due date appear on your monthly statement, in your card's mobile app, or on the issuer's website. If you're unsure, check your most recent statement or call the number on the back of your card.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does charging on the closing date itself count for this month or next?

It depends on when the transaction posts. Purchases made on the closing date usually post that day and are included in the current statement. However, some transactions (especially international ones) can take 1–2 days to post, pushing them to the next cycle. Check your statement to confirm.

What if my due date falls on a weekend or holiday?

If the due date falls on a weekend or federal holiday, the issuer must accept payment on the next business day without charging a late fee. Paying a day early is always the safest option.

Can I change my closing date?

Most credit card issuers allow you to request a different closing date once every 12 months. This can help you align your payment dates with your paycheck schedule. Call your issuer or request the change through your online account.
