About Twitter Thread Splitting
Twitter (now X) limits standard accounts to 280 characters per tweet. For longer content, you need to create a "thread" — a series of connected tweets posted in sequence. Manually deciding where to split is tedious and error-prone.
This tool takes any block of text and splits it into chunks that fit within your chosen character limit. Each chunk is shown with its character count and a Copy button so you can post them one by one. The default limit is 280 characters for standard X accounts, but X Premium subscribers can increase this to 25,000 characters per post.
Splitting always happens at word boundaries, so no word is broken mid-word. Very long single words (like a URL) that exceed the limit on their own will start a new tweet and are shown individually. Adjust the character limit freely to fit any platform or format.
FAQ
This tool counts raw JavaScript string length. Twitter counts URLs as 23 characters and some emojis as 2, so actual tweet character counts on Twitter may differ slightly.
Yes. Change the character limit to match any platform: 500 for Mastodon, 3,000 for LinkedIn, 2,200 for Instagram captions, etc.
