How the Karaoke Song Picker Works
This is for the moment you are holding the mic with no idea what to sing. There are two ways to use it. List the songs you actually sing and one is drawn from that list at random, or leave the list empty and you get a condition card built from a genre, an era and a mood. A condition card points you in a direction instead of naming a track, so you browse the machine for something that fits.
Genre, era and mood can each be locked to your choice or left on Any, in which case they are filled in at random. The result marks which values you chose and which were random, so you always know how much was left to chance. A room rule is drawn alongside every pick to keep the rotation lively, and you can draw up to five picks at once.
Why there is no song database
No catalog of real song titles and artists is built into this tool. That is deliberate: pairing the wrong artist with a title, or presenting a stale chart as current, is worse than no suggestion at all. Pulling current chart rankings or an artist's discography is therefore not supported. Writing your own list once and pasting it back next time works better anyway.
How the draw works
Your song list is shuffled with the Fisher-Yates algorithm and the first entries are taken, so the same title never comes up twice in one draw. The chance shown is the number of picks divided by the number of songs on your list.
