How to use the segment response rate calculator
The same message often gets wildly different response rates depending on who receives it. Enter sends and responses per segment and this calculator lays out each segment’s rate and its gap to the overall rate in one table.
The thing to get right is a consistent denominator. If one row uses sends and another uses delivered, the comparison is meaningless. The result label spells out "total responses ÷ total sends" so you can match your inputs to it.
The "vs overall" column is the segment rate minus the overall rate, expressed in percentage points. That is a difference, not a multiple: against an overall rate of 4%, a segment at 6% is +2 pp and 1.5x.
Be careful reading small segments. With only dozens of sends, one extra response moves the rate sharply, which is why the sends column stays visible next to the rate. For small groups, combine several periods before drawing a conclusion.
