How to use the follower growth rate calculator
Follower growth rate is (followers at end - followers at start) / followers at start. The denominator matters: the same gain of 500 followers is 50% on a 1,000-follower account and 1% on a 50,000-follower account, so large accounts always look slower on rate alone. This calculator therefore reports the net change and the average daily change next to the percentage.
The monthly and annual figures are simple linear run rates: the daily average shown on screen multiplied by 30 and 365 days. They assume no compounding and simply answer what the current pace would add. A period that includes a one-off spike from a collaboration or a paid push will extrapolate far too high, so measure a stretch that reflects normal activity.
If the account lost followers, the net change and the rate come out negative and the result label switches to a decline rate. No benchmark growth rate is stated here because it depends heavily on niche, content format and whether paid promotion is running.
Frequently asked questions
This calculator uses net change, the difference between the two counts. To measure gross new follows without unfollows, enter start followers plus new follows as the end value instead.
Day-of-week swings are large, so use whole weeks at minimum, and keep the length fixed (28 or 30 days) so month-to-month comparisons use the same basis.
