How to Use the Brand Collaboration Reach Calculator
One of the biggest draws of a brand collaboration is getting in front of the partner brand's followers who don't yet know you. This calculator takes both brands' follower counts, an estimated audience overlap rate, and the actual exposure rate of the collab content, then estimates the potential new reach each brand gains.
The math subtracts already-overlapping followers (the overlap rate) from the partner's follower count, then multiplies by the share of followers who actually see the content (exposure rate). A lower overlap and a higher exposure rate both push the potential new reach up.
Since an exact overlap rate is hard to know, it's best to estimate conservatively based on how similar the two audiences are. Keep in mind this number reflects exposure potential, not confirmed conversions — use it as a reference when picking collab partners or setting expectations for a campaign.
Frequently Asked Questions
An exact figure is hard to know, but you can assume overlap is higher when both brands target similar ages and interests. A survey or follower analytics tool can give you a reasonable estimate to enter.
It's the share of followers who actually see the collab content (joint posts, stories, etc.). For accuracy, use the average reach rate (views divided by followers) from past posts.
