How the anchor count is produced
The item weight is increased by the safety margin you set to give a design load, and that figure divided by the rated load of one anchor and rounded up gives the count. You cannot fit half an anchor, so a required quantity rounds up. The results also show the actual and the design load each anchor carries, along with the headroom left against the rating.
Always take the per-anchor rating from the product manual. It varies so much with the product and the wall behind it that none is published here, and no recommended safety margin is published either. Written as of October 2026.
This page only divides a load by a count. Identifying wall construction, choosing an anchor type, hole diameter and depth, loads that sit unevenly across the fixings, and leverage from an item standing off the wall are all out of scope. Confirm any installation with the product manual or a qualified installer.
Frequently Asked Questions
No anchor rating is published here. Two anchors that look identical can differ widely depending on the product and the wall they go into. Enter the figure printed in your product manual.
No recommended margin is published here. Enter the percentage you have decided on and the count is worked out from the weight increased by that much. A margin of 0 uses the raw weight.
The raw weight divided by the count differs from the design load divided by the count. Comparing the design figure against the rating is the more conservative of the two.
