⚖️Mixed Steel Total Weight Calculator

Sum total weight of mixed steel sections and quantities

How to Use the Mixed Steel Total Weight Calculator

Job sites often order or receive several different steel section sizes together, so instead of running each one through a separate calculation, it helps to sum the total weight of multiple items on one screen. This calculator lets you enter unit weight (lb/ft), length (ft), and quantity for up to 5 items, automatically multiplying and adding them into a combined total shown in both pounds and short tons.

Unit weight is simply the weight-per-foot value published in the AISC shapes database or your steel supplier's catalog for the section you're using. For example, if a W12x26 beam weighs 26 lb/ft, enter that value along with the member's length and quantity to get that item's subtotal.

Any row left at 0 is automatically excluded from the total, so you only need to fill in as many items as you actually have. If you have more than 5 items, note the subtotal, re-enter the rest, and add the two subtotals together for your grand total.
