How to Use the Figure Collection Storage Space Calculator
As a figure or model kit collection grows, there comes a point where your current shelf just isn't enough — and knowing exactly how much space you need before buying a new cabinet helps you avoid picking the wrong size. This calculator takes your figure (box) count, average box size, and the shelf width you have available, then tells you how many items fit per row, how many rows you'll need, and the total volume required.
Items per row comes from dividing shelf width by box width, and the number of rows needed is your total count divided by that number, rounded up. If your boxes come in different sizes, calculate using whichever size you own the most of, or run the numbers separately for each size group for a more accurate total.
The total volume is a reference figure for planning a new cabinet or rearranging a room. Since you'll also need gaps between boxes and room to reach in and grab items, it's a good idea to plan for 15-20% more space than the raw calculated volume.
Frequently Asked Questions
Pick the size category you own the most of, or the option closest to your average box size. If sizes vary a lot, it's more accurate to calculate each size group separately.
The calculator can't fit even one box per row in that case. You'll need a wider shelf, or consider storing boxes on their side to fit a different dimension instead.
