Splitting oral care time across zones
Decide how many zones your mouth divides into and how many seconds each zone gets, and the brushing time per session follows from that. Add your flossing time and how many sessions you do a day, and the page reports the per-session total, the daily total and the seven-day total in minutes and seconds. If you do not floss, enter 0.
The arithmetic is zones multiplied by seconds per zone for brushing time, plus flossing time for the session total, multiplied by sessions per day for the daily figure, and by seven for the week (as of October 2026). A week is treated as seven days. Everything is added up in whole seconds and only split into minutes and seconds at the moment of display.
The American Dental Association recommends brushing twice a day for two minutes with a fluoride toothpaste and cleaning between your teeth once a day. The result compares your brushing time per session with two minutes and your sessions per day with two. This page does not assess whether your technique is correct or your flossing sufficient. Bleeding gums, lasting pain or persistent bad breath are reasons to see a dentist. This result is not medical advice.
Frequently asked questions
The American Dental Association (ADA) recommends brushing twice a day for two minutes each time and cleaning between your teeth once a day with floss or another interdental cleaner. The guideline line in the result shows whether your brushing time per session reaches two minutes. If your dentist has given you different advice, follow that.
That is your choice. Some people use six, splitting upper and lower into left, center and right; others use four or eight. No authoritative basis for preferring one split is offered here.
Put 0 in the flossing field, and the per-session total becomes the brushing time alone. Floss and interdental brushes reach surfaces a toothbrush does not, but this calculation does not pass judgment on skipping them.
