How to Use the Poker Odds Calculator
Select two players' hole cards and click Calculate Odds to see preflop win rates and tie probability for a Texas Hold'em matchup. The simulator randomly deals 5 community cards 2,000 times and compares each player's best 5-card hand to count wins and ties.
Card notation: T = Ten, J = Jack, Q = Queen, K = King, A = Ace. Suits use ♠♥♦♣. Selecting duplicate cards between hands will show an error. Results are statistical approximations — running multiple times and averaging gives a closer result to the theoretical equity.
Example: A♠K♥ vs Q♦J♣ gives approximately 64% vs 34% with ~2% ties. Pocket pairs dominate two overcards in most situations. Suited hands gain roughly 3–4 percentage points over off-suit equivalents.
Frequently Asked Questions
It uses Monte Carlo simulation: 5 community cards are randomly dealt 2,000 times. Each player's best 5-card hand is evaluated and compared to count wins, losses, and ties.
T stands for Ten (10), following standard poker notation. J, Q, K, A stand for Jack, Queen, King, and Ace respectively.
Monte Carlo results include inherent randomness. Repeating the calculation and comparing results will show convergence toward the true theoretical equity.
