How to Use the XP Boost Efficiency Calculator
When deciding whether to pop an XP boost, the multiplier alone doesn't really tell you how much it's worth. This calculator takes your base XP per hour, the boost multiplier, and the duration, then works out exactly how much extra XP you earned from the boost, how much time that would have taken at your normal rate (time saved), and the overall efficiency gain.
The math is simple: during the boosted period you earn XP at the multiplied rate instead of the normal rate, so the extra XP gained is equivalent to however long it would have taken to earn that same amount normally — and that's exactly your time saved. For example, using a 2x boost for 60 minutes earns you an extra 60 minutes' worth of XP, which is effectively 60 minutes saved.
The higher the multiplier and the longer you use it, the more time and XP you save. When an event offers a higher-than-usual boost multiplier, running the numbers ahead of time helps you decide exactly when it's most efficient to pop your boost item.
Frequently Asked Questions
Dividing the extra XP earned from the boost by your normal XP rate tells you how much longer it would have taken to earn that same amount without the boost. That value is the time saved.
As long as the multiplier is above 100% (1x), you always come out ahead during the boosted period. A lower multiplier just means less time saved, so weigh it against the cost or resources spent on the boost item to decide if it's worth it.
