How to use the bouldering send distribution calculator
Type how many problems you have sent at each grade and the tool builds a table of totals, per-grade shares and cumulative shares. Alongside it you get the hardest grade sent, the grade where your sends cluster, and the median grade, meaning the grade of the send that sits in the middle when every send is lined up from easiest to hardest.
The maths is plain arithmetic. Each share is the sends at that grade divided by total sends, shown to one decimal, so rounding can make the column add up to something like 100.1 percent. With an even total the lower middle send sets the median, and send counts must be whole numbers (checked October 2026).
No table converting V grades to Fontainebleau or any other scale is included. Published comparison charts disagree with each other, and shipping one of them would turn a disputed chart into a false standard. Time to the next grade, strength benchmarks per grade and skill tiers are not outputs of this page either.
Frequently asked questions
No. Published comparison charts disagree, so picking one would turn a disputed table into a false standard. Use whichever chart you already follow and match the grades yourself.
It is the grade of the send that sits in the middle when every send is lined up from easiest to hardest. With an even total the lower middle send is used.
No. Too many factors drive that and no authoritative progression standard exists, so this page only summarises the sends you have already logged.
