How to use the study time by grade planner

Asking how many hours a student in a given grade "should" study turns up a different number from every source, so this planner does not hand you one. Instead it takes the weekly goal you set, divides it by the number of days you study, and splits that goal across subjects using the weights you supply. Enter the hours you actually studied and it also reports how much of the goal you met and what is left.

The daily target is the weekly goal divided by study days. Each subject’s weekly share is the weekly goal multiplied by that subject’s share of the total weight, so weights can be relative values such as 2:4:3:1 and need not add up to 100. The completion figure is actual hours divided by the goal; when actual equals the goal it shows 100.0% and the time left reads 0 min.

The grade you pick is printed in the result as a label and is not used in any calculation. There is no official recommended study time by grade, so this page prescribes no amount. It also does not predict score gains or rank which subject deserves priority — use it to check whether you are keeping the goal you set.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does picking a grade fill in a recommended number of hours?

No. There is no official recommended study time by grade, so nothing is filled in automatically. The grade is only a label in the result, and the goal is a figure you enter.

Do subject weights have to add up to 100?

No. Only their relative sizes matter. Values such as 2:4:3:1 work fine, because each subject’s share of the total weight is computed for you.

What shows up when I hit the goal exactly?

The completion figure reads 100.0% and the time left reads 0 min with a goal-reached note. Going past the goal still leaves the remaining time at 0 min.
