How to use the job readiness competency score calculator
Job-readiness batteries used in competitive hiring split into areas such as communication, numeracy, problem solving and resource management, and each employer sets its own question counts and point weights per area. Counting correct answers alone therefore does not tell you the score. Enter one area per line with your correct answers, the total questions and the area points from the posting, and this page builds the weighted score.
For each area the page computes accuracy as correct answers divided by total questions, multiplies it by the area points to get a weighted score, and adds those up. Dividing by the sum of the area points rescales the result to 100 points. Overall accuracy by question count is reported separately, so you can tell apart a session where you answered plenty correctly but lost points to heavy weighting. The gap between your strongest and weakest area is shown as well.
Area weights and qualifying totals differ by employer and hiring cycle, so none are built into the page. It does not decide whether you passed, does not test minimum area scores, and does not compare scores across employers. It stops at the weighted score and the spread between areas.
Frequently Asked Questions
The area names look similar across employers, but the number of questions and the points assigned to each area are set in the individual announcement. Nothing is built in, so copy the weights from the posting you are applying to.
Even with an equal number of questions, a weak area weighted heavily drags the total down hard. Seeing the gap between the strongest and weakest area makes it clearer where extra study time pays off.
No. Qualifying totals and minimum area scores vary by employer and are often not published, so this page stops at the weighted score built from the points you entered.
