How to use the college application document tracker
Every application asks for a slightly different set of materials on a different date, so juggling early action, early decision and regular deadlines at once makes it easy to lose sight of which one still has gaps. List each application with the number of items it requires, the number already submitted and the days until its deadline, and this tracker sorts them by nearest deadline and reports progress and status in one table.
Progress for each application is items submitted divided by items required. Overall progress sums the submitted items across applications and divides by the summed totals. An application is marked complete once submitted equals required, and any still-incomplete application within the near-deadline window you set is flagged. Enter 0 days for the deadline day itself and it reads as due today.
This page is a document and schedule tracker. It calculates no admission chance and ranks no application as more favourable. US colleges set no national cap on how many schools you apply to (the Common App allows up to 20), so the number of schools is your own planning cap, prefilled at 10; listing more applications than that stops the calculation with a message. Every deadline and required item must come from each school’s published requirements.
Frequently Asked Questions
No. It tallies document progress and deadlines only. Admission outcomes depend on the applicant pool and each reader’s criteria, so no chance is calculated.
Progress reads 100.0% and the status changes to all submitted. A completed application is no longer flagged as a near deadline even if its date falls inside the window.
Put 0 in the days column and the row reads due today. Days until a deadline must be a whole number of 0 or more.
