How this needed-score calculator works

Mid-way through a certification exam the useful question is what the subjects still ahead have to deliver. Pick the total number of subjects, fill in only the ones you have already sat, and leave the rest blank. Every blank slot is treated as a remaining subject, and the calculator works out the lowest average those subjects have to reach.

The math starts from a target total. The required average is multiplied by the number of subjects to get that total, the points already banked are subtracted, and the remainder is divided across the subjects left and rounded up to two decimals. If the figure lands above the maximum score, the page says that perfect scores still would not reach it. If it lands below the per-subject minimum, the page points out that the minimum is the real target.

Subject counts and passing standards differ between certifying bodies and exam cycles, so all of them are editable inputs. A subject already sat that sits below the minimum is flagged, because the remaining scores cannot repair it. Subject exemptions and carried-over subject credits are not supported here.

Frequently Asked Questions

Should I enter 0 for a subject I have not sat?

No. Leave it blank. Blank slots are read as remaining subjects and become the ones the needed average is calculated for.

The needed average came out below the per-subject minimum.

The average alone would be satisfied, but the minimum is judged separately, so the minimum score is the real target. The result says so.

Why do I have to enter the subject count and standards?

They differ between certifying bodies and exam cycles, so nothing is hard-coded. Copy the figures from the notice for the sitting you are taking.
