💼Business Card Information Layout Guide

Compute the placeable area from card size and margin

Items to place (only the checked count is used)

Information itemChecked

There is no official standard for the order of items on a business card. This tool does not suggest an order; it only checks whether the number of items you ticked fits the safe area.

Space comes before order

There are always more things you want on a card than there is room for. A name, a job title, a company, two phone numbers, an email and an address fill a small piece of card stock fast. This tool first works out the area you can actually place type in, from the card size and the safe margin, and then multiplies the number of items you ticked by the line height and gap to see whether they fit.

How it is calculated

The placeable area is the card width and height with the margin subtracted from both sides. The height needed is the item count times the line height, plus one gap fewer than the item count, plus the logo or QR block height together with one extra gap when you enter one. The number of lines that fit is the remaining height divided by line height plus gap, rounded down. The formula used is printed under the result. Written as of October 2026.

Limits

The tool does not suggest which item should come first, because no official standard exists. Bleed and trim calculations, typeface choice and how many characters fit across the width are not supported. Always confirm the safe area with your printer before going to press.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a recommended order for items on a business card?

There is no official order. It depends on your trade and on how the card is used, so this tool does not prescribe one. It only checks whether the number of items you ticked fits the safe area.

What safe margin should I enter?

Cutting tolerance differs between printers, so there is no single value. Use the safe area your printer gives you. Bleed and trim-size math is handled by a different tool.

Is the line height the same as the font size?

No. A full line including leading is taller than the font size. Measure the real line height in your layout tool and convert it to inches before entering it.
